Workshops for people dissatisfied at work.
If you do have a problem with the working week you are not alone. Between 55% and 65% of people are dissatisfied with their job, and the numbers are rising (Green, University of Kent, 2004).
These workshops are open to all who:
- have a disagreeable relationship with their job, organisation or boss;
- want to have a look at this and gain different perspectives;
- and who want to explore ways of becoming less affected by their work.
Most of us deal with our dissatisfaction by moaning and grumbling and getting on with it.
Some of us leave our real selves at home when we leave for work.
Some of us find solace in alcohol or other damaging habits.
Many of us experience 'positive attitude' training as just another tyranny to get us to comply and smile at the same time.
No matter how we manage to get through the week, there are cost to ouselves as well as benefits.
One of the heaviest costs can be damaging 'adaptive behaviour' that causes us to lose touch with who we really are and what gives us joy.
"Yes, we live within systems, but it is also our task not only to preserve but to fulfill our individuality. ... to become our true, unique selves, and not mere organisation men and women." - M. Scott Peck.
Our workshops
- Offer you the chance to experience a safe and supportive place in which to explore and share the issues of unhappiness at work;
- Help you express the miseries of monday to Friday (and perhaps have fun doing it);
- Support you in gaining new perspectives
- Help you find ways of having more power and not letting work encroach so much on you.
Our focus will include:
- What is it about your work that turns you off?
- The benefits of negative thinking and the creative use of the middle finger;
- How much of you goes to work - what do you leave behind?
- What effect does this have - at home and at work?
- What do you wish for?
- Possibilities for redemption and healing.
The workshops are largely experiential so numbers are limited to 15 in order to foster a safe environment in which people can feel free and able to participate.
